Lille Forbidden Zone – 1940/1944

Workshops and exhibitions | May 2010 | Roubaix (59)

The exhibition Lille Forbidden Zone ended a week of workshops on resistance to Nazi occupation in the Lille metropolis. Eight Europeans could express their views on the subject, after having benefitted from an introduction to the history of this period, and from a short training to shooting photos.

Their different nationalities and the total freedom they had in their approach helped creating this (original) series of photomontages, mixing snapshots and archives. Locations often speaks for themselves, and participants also chose to exhibit photos of natural environments. A short movie, based on micro-pollings, has also been made.

This project has been initiated by the Italianian organisation Informa Giovani, and has been financed by the European Union, in the framework of their cultural policy. The organisation Histoire de Savoir(s) organised this week of workshops for ADICE, the French partners of this project.

The exhibition could not have been made possible without the precious help of the EDHEC and of the town hall of Roubaix, to which we address special thanks. The Museum of the Resistance of Bondues is our privileged partner for this project.
