Workshops and exhibitions | 2013 | Faubourg de Béthune, Lille (59)
From February to July 2013, the organisation, in partnership with the Perspectives association and the neighbourhood’s town hall, launched a series of workshops dealing with photography, aiming at the neighbourhood’s inhabitants. Two rounds of workshops, during the February and April vacations, enabled young junior highschoolers to discover the techniques of the pinhole camera and of the silver film. This first step led to an exhibition at the Médiathèque of Faubourg de Béthune, from the 10th to the 27th o May. The second round was devoted to working with digital photography. In parallel, a third workshop has been set, with several women from the Perspectives association. After a training session, they could try the portrait technique, during a day at the beach in June.
The resulting two photographic series have been presented, on large format tarps, during the Meal of Solidarity (Repas de la Solidarité) the 29th of June, within the Cultural Fortnights “Our Summer Neighbourhoods” (Nos Quartiers d’Eté) in July, as well as during the Heritage Days from the 14th to the 25th of September 2013, at the neighbourhood’s Médiathèque.
